The growing use of vitamins, minerals, trace elements and other substances in food supplements which are offered for sale as capsules, tablets, powders or in liquid form as foods to supplement the general diet constitutes a challenge for consumer protection. Consumers must be protected not only from possible health risks but also from misleading information.
